Velázquez
Velázquez was an illustrious Sevillian painter who spent much of his life in the service of the Habsburgs. He studied the art of painting in his hometown until he moved to Madrid with his family at the age of 24 and began his career as a real painter. He is one of the greatest geniuses of universal painting, and almost half of his collection is in the Museo del Prado, including his famous work Las Meninas.

Goya
Goya was an innovative artist who managed to leap ahead of the pictorial movements of the time, such as, romanticism, surrealism, impressionism and expressionism. Among his works we can find wonderful frescoes, beautiful canvases and a large collection kept by the Prado Museum. Madrid is full of historical places related to this famous painter.

El Greco
Doménikos Theotokópoulos, better known by his nickname El Greco, was born in Crete and spent part of his life in Italy, having no great success there he moved to Spain, It was in Toledo where he became a great teacher and was recognized for his artistic abilities. Among his most important works are paintings such as Adoration of the Shepherds, The Knight of the Hand on the Chest or The Burial of Count Orgaz.

Los Borbones
The Borbones are the dynasty that reign from the eighteenth century to present day in Spain, and have left an artistic and architectural mark on the city. Highlighted in the Royal Palace, the famous fountains of the Paseo del Arte and many paintings that reside in the Prado Museum.

Los Austrias
The Austrias were the kings of the great Spanish empire. The current Madrid remembers and honors its heritage by having many sites in the capital that are closely related to the art of the Habsburgs. Such as, convents, churches, and the magnificent collection kept in the Prado Museum.
