Felipe II, a passionately religious man, ordered the construction of this monastery with the desire to build a mausoleum in memory of his parents and consecrate the victory of Saint Quentin, which took place on the day of San Lorenzo in 1557. The complex consists of a palace, a monastery, a basilica, a pantheon, a school and a library. It is characterized as a rather austere and severe place, reflecting the personality of the creator, and is decorated with beautiful works of art by renowned painters of the sixteenth century. It is the Pride of Spanish Royalty and has been named a World Heritage Site.

Segovia’s aqueduct and old city are the Patrimony of the Humanity. It is located in a strategic place, on a hill between the channels of the Eresmes and Clamores rivers. It is a city imbued with history where the Celtiberian tribes, the Romans, the Bavarians, the Muslims and Christians lived. In it took place the proclamation of Queen Isabella the Catholic. In addition to its aqueduct, you cannot miss El Alcázar, the Jewish Quarter or the Cathedral.

Although you cannot tell it by its name, Granja de San Ildefonso is a palace named after a farm that the Jerónimos monks of El Parral previously had. Felipe V ordered it to be built following the model of Versailles but with clear Italian influence. It was the summer residence of Spanish monarchs until the 20th century. In the palatial complex what stands out above all is their beautiful gardens and the many varieties you can find them in.

Pedraza is a charming town in Segovia, it is a small walled medieval town of great beauty that has only 125 inhabitants. There you can enjoy the delightful main square, its narrow streets, and observe many noble palaces and houses (with coats of arms that began in the 16th century). There are still visible remains of the once standing wall and the Puerta de la Villa. It is a town with great architectural and cultural value.

Avila is known as the city of the knights and has been a World Heritage site since 1985. It was founded by the Romans and still has a typical medieval design which highlights its collected squares, narrow streets, noble mansions and palaces. Its wall is the jewel in the crown of this city, with 2,516 meters it is the largest fully illuminated monument in the world.

Toledo, a World Heritage site, is a mixture of times and people, cultures and religions all having left a mark on its great monumental wealth. It is known as the “city of the three cultures” because Christians, Arabs and Jews live there together for centuries. Behind its walls there are many worthy buildings to visit such as the Cathedral, the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes, the Sephardic Museum, the Alcázar, the Mosque of Cristo de la Luz and the Transito Synagogue.
