Description

Doménikos Theotokópoulos more known by his nickname El Greco ("The Greek") was born in Crete, moved to Venice and later Rome. But ultimately he wasn’t entirely successful there and he went to Spain. First to Madrid and later to Toledo where he finally became the big master and his artistic skills were recognized.
Priest Santo Tomé of Toledo commissioned El Greco to paint his most famous work “The Burial of Count Orgaz” which is located in the church of Santo Tomé.
